2013 Colonial Ball

By Greg Ohanesian
Colonial Ball Chairman

CHARLESTON — The SCSSAR Colonial Ball will take place Saturday evening Dec. 21 in the Main Ballroom of the Charleston Place Hotel on Meeting Street in Charleston.
The cost per three course dinner (filet mignon) is $94 ($28 less than the hotel's usual filet mignon dinner charge). You may reserve rooms at the hotel as a base cost of $169 per night for Friday (Dec. 20) and Saturday (Dec. 21). Please make reservations at groupres@charlestonplace.com as soon as possible because the hotel will host the annual S.C. Renaissance Conference within two days after the Colonial Ball and may close off rooms early so their staff can prepare all 467 rooms for conference attendees.
The Colonial Ball Reception will take place Friday evening, Dec. 20, in the Main Ballroom of the historic Embassy Suites Hotel, also on Meeting Street. The cost per person is $41, and heavy hors d'ouevres will be served, and a cash bar will be available. The costs for each event have been trimmed to the respective hotels costs per person, and the costs were the subject of extensive negotiations.
If you cannot secure a room at the Charleston Place Hotel, you may reserve a suite (bedroom, bath, full kitchenette and front sitting room) at Embassy Suites for $169 per night, which includes a full breakfast. Identify yourself as being part of the SCSSAR Colonial Ball to get the discounted room rate.
The debutante presentation fee is $850 if received by May 15, and will increase to $900 if received by Sept. 1.
The Colonial Ball is a formal affair. The debutantes are required to war white ball gowns with straps (at least one half inch), while all other women may wear a ball gown of any color other than white. Presenters and escorts are required to wear white tie and tails, while all other men must wear either white tie, tartan or black tie.
We hope you and your family will join us for a truly memorable occasion.
